Sculpture
My first sculptures were done with Sculpey Clay. It is a very forgiving medium that allows one to work with it, shaping and reshaping, for weeks or months at a time, as required. When you are satisfied with your results it is baked at a very low temperature in your kitchen oven. It can not be reshaped after this. It is then painted, stained, sprayed or left natural for your finished piece.
Since studying various sculpture techniques at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art starting in 2021, I have experimented with different ways of sculpting, and with different glazing techniques. The ‘Minimalist Porcelain Sculptures’ and ‘Under My Wing’ sculpture were spray glazed using a soft white satin glaze. ‘My Hand’ were raku fired. ‘Working Woman’ and ‘Robert in Ruffles’ were acrylic washed and sealed. ‘Milk Maid’ and ‘Oyster Shucker’ were washed with metallic glaze colorants.
